Ingredients
- 1.5 lemons
- 1.5 oranges
- 1.5 kg stewing pears
- 60 g sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 cloves
- 1.5 cinnamon sticks
- 1150 ml red port
Preparation
Step 1
Scrub the orange and lemon clean. Peel them with a vegetable peeler.
Step 2
Then peel the pears, but leave the stalk.
Step 3
Put the pears in a casserole dish, with the orange and lemon peel. Add the red port, cinnamon sticks, cloves, bay leaves and sugar. Bring this to the boil.
Step 4
Remove the lid from the casserole dish, turn the hob down to a low heat and stew the pears for 45 mins (leaving the lid off).
Step 5
Serve the pears hot or lukewarm.
